Listening to bbc radio 2 about how much trouble great crested newts cause to developers. This is due to EU regs and could change soon...
It seems just mentioning a newt can stop fracking for months... You can go to jail for bothering a great crested newt.
The plan.
Scour all potential fracking sites for great crested newts, get a pic and send to local paper.
I'm not advocating planting newts but if you did, you would need to ensure it was a viable population of the correct species in appropriate habitat.
I certainly wouldn't advocate carpet bombing sssi's with newts...
So. Sooner the better, get newting!
